Matthew Asciak, seeking a 6th consecutive win in this tournament had to retire from the tournament due to a shoulder injury that has been hampering him for the last few months. Winning his first set 6-3 against Liam Delicata, Asciak was unable to continue playing and was forced to retire.
In group 2, Matthew Cassar Torreggiani had two dominant victories over Matthew Griscti 6-1, 6-0 and Mark Gatt 6-1, 6-0. Omar Suzuka beat Matthew Griscti 6-1, 6-0.
Bernard Cassar Toerregiani will be in action today and is expected to be a strong contender.
The tournament will be played throughout this week with the final scheduled for Sunday 23rd December 2018 at 2.00pm
