Our commitments in this year’s edition of the European U14 Championships being held in Most, Czech Republic, came to an end today.
Emma Montebello was involved in a round of 32 match (from an original draw of 128) against E. Inisan from France. The French girl settled down quickly into the match and never allowed a rather nervous Emma any sort of rhythm. The former could therefore dictate proceedings and wrapped up the set 6-0.
Emma tried a reaction in the second set and shared the early exchanges by playing closer to her normal level. At 2-3 down however she was broken again and the French girl took a tight grip on the set to win it and the match 6-0; 6-2.
Steve Caruana, the MTF Technical Director of the MTF and who is accompanying the team, stated that the experience of participating and competing at this highest level of junior tennis will hopefully motivate our top juniors in their tennis development.
