Matija Pecotic, a 33-year-old tennis player, has recently been announced as the latest addition to #teamMalta for the upcoming GSSE. Pecotic grew up in Malta, where he developed a passion for tennis and competed in the national junior circuit. He left Malta to continue his education in America, where he continued to play tennis.

Earlier this year, Pecotic shocked the tennis world when he defeated former top 10 player in the world, Jack Sock, with a score of 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 during the first round of the Delay Beach Open in Florida. He currently holds an ATP ranking of 586 in men’s singles, having peaked at 206th in 2015.

Today, Pecotic made it to the final of the M15 Orange Park Florida tournament, where he faced tough opposition against Roberto Cid Subervi in a thrilling match that ended with a score of 6-0, 3-6, 2-6. Despite the loss, Pecotic’s impressive performance in the tournament is a good sign of his hard work and talent, which will serve him well for the upcoming GSSE, taking place from May 29th to June 3rd.

Pecotic’s inclusion in #teamMalta is a great achievement for the Maltese tennis community, and his success and perseverance serves as an inspiration to tennis players in the country.
