Francesca Curmi has booked her place in the International Tennis Federation singles semi-final and doubles final being played in Spain.

The 19 year old Maltese star got the better of the tournament’s number one seed Celia Cervino Ruiz. After losing the first set 6-3, Curmi staged an emphatic comeback winning the next two sets 6-0 and 7-6 (2).

Fran, as she is affectionately known, is showing top form and together with Serbian partner Michaela Djakoviv, beat the strong Spanish pair Lantigua De La Nuez and Parres Azcoitia in the semi-final of the doubles tournament. A win of 6-2, 6-3 saw the Maltese and Serbian duo pave their way to the final of the tournament.

This should serve Curmi well for the forthcoming international commitments where she will be representing Malta in the highly prestigious Mediterranean Games and BJK Cup (formerly known as Fed Cup) where Fran has an impressive 7-1 win record in the singles and 6-1 in the Doubles in the latter event.

We wish Fran a good performance in her upcoming semi final against the strong Spanish player, Olga Parres Azcoita.
