Elaine Genovese, who currently holds a WTA doubles ranking of 647, has just won the ITF 15K doubles tournament in Monastir, Tunisia, alongside her doubles partner for this event, Sharmada Balu of India.
The duo faced tough competition throughout the entire ITF 15k event. Their journey led them to an intense final against Louise Kwong of Canada and Anna Ulyashchenko of America, who currently hold WTA doubles rankings of 825 and 622 respectively.
Despite a challenging start, losing the first set 6-0 in the finals, Elaine and Sharmada showcased their determination and mental focus. They fought back fiercely, winning the second set 6-4 and pushing the match to a deciding tiebreak. In a close fashion, they won with a score of 11-9, securing their well-earned victory.
This win is a testament to Elaine’s top form and dedication as she prepares for the upcoming GSSE as part of #teamMalta on May 29th. Congratulations and well done to Elaine and Sharmada for their great achievement.
