Today marked the conclusion of Day 8 of the VLTC Junior Open 2023. Three final matches were played across 3 different categories, with games beginning at 8:30 AM.
Girls U12 Final: Maya Trojanowska vs. Maryia Magro
Maya found her stride early in the match, securing the opening set with both players showcasing long rallies and impressive points. Maya clinched the 1st set with a score of 6-2;. In the second set, Maryia displayed her tenacity and skill, winning it 6-4;. In the decisive third set, Maryia rode her momentum to a clean 6-0 ;victory, ultimately winning the match 2-6;6-4; 6-0;. Well done to both players for delivering an outstanding tennis match.
Boys U12 Final: Gianluca Pace vs. Andy Gingell Littlejohn
Gianluca secured the first set with a score of 6-3; in a set filled with extended rallies and beautiful points scored by both players. The second set followed a similar pattern, with Gianluca winning it 6-3 ;as well. Well done to both players for their performance.
Boys U16 Final: Kelian Lauwers vs. Sebastian Cassar Torregiani
Kelian started the match strongly, claiming the first set with a score of 6-0;. Sebastian put forth a valiant effort and mounted a small comeback in the second set, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the strong Kelian. Kelian ultimately won the second set 6-1;.
Following the final matches, a presentation was held with John Scibberas, the Secretary of the Malta Tennis Federation, and Lara Filletti, a representative from the sponsor San Michel, presiding.John Scibberas expressed the Malta Tennis Federation’s gratitude towards the VLTC for successfully organizing and hosting the event. He also extended well-deserved praise to all the participants, trophy recipients, and the on-court staff who made these events possible.
